Family Dog Manners at Mayland Community College

Mondays at 6 pm; April 12 to May 17

This 6-week course focuses on teaching dog owners how to train their pet using the most up to date applications of science and learning theory. You will learn how to use positive methods to tap into your dog’s intelligence and eagerness to work for food, toys, social or environmental rewards.

Walk n’ Wag: Leash Manners class

$250: 6 week Class; 30-minute lessons

Open to FRIENDLY dogs 12 months and older

Thursdays at 5:15 pm; May 13 to June 17

Your dog knows all the basics….except walking nicely on leash! And let’s face it, no one wants their dog pulling their shoulder out of their socket!

Teaching your dog appropriate leash manners can be so challenging to do. They’re always sniffing around, dashing ahead, and pulling to the next bush. This class focuses first on the foundations of proper leash walking before jumping into some fun games and patterns to help your dog remember you’re on the other end of the leash.

 

Family Dog Manners – Basic Obedience

$250: 6 week Class

Open to FRIENDLY dogs 6 months and older

Thursdays at 6:00 pm; May 13 to June 17

From self-control, to focus, to basic manners, this class covers all the basics your dog needs to know to be an enjoyable part of your family. This class will teach YOU how to train your dog, and equip you with the skills needed to have a lifetime of enjoyment with your dog! At the end of this class, you’ll be the proud parent of a dog who knows their basic cues, can pay attention around distractions, and has self-control around food!

Dog Parkour/Urban Agility

$250: 6 week Class

Open to FIT dogs 8 months and older

Thursdays at 7:00 pm; May 13 to June 17

Do you love being active with your dog? Does your dog need a confidence boost? Are you looking for creative ways to burn off extra energy and enrich your dog’s life? Interested in sports, but not interested in all the equipment (and costs!) needed to get started? Then Dog Parkour is for you!

Hiking Hounds

$250: 6 week Class

Open to dogs 18 months and older. Dogs MUST be friendly. NO REACTIVE OR AGGRESSIVE DOGS. 

Sundays at 11 am ; May 30 to June 27

It can be so fun to take your dog on a hound.. but only when they know the rules of the trail! This class will teach you and your dog handy tips and skills to help you be better hikers together!

This class covers skills focusing on advanced leash skills, ‘coming when called’, attention around distractions, as well as important hiking safety, preparedness, and recovery information.
