Amazing news from Banner Elk, NC!
As of June 2025, Tate-Evans Park in downtown Banner Elk is FULLY OPEN! Brody and I have taken several walks along the greenway at the park this Spring, and we are so impressed by the progess being made by the town of Banner Elk and Eggers construction.
The pathways are all clear of debris, the bridges are safe and accessible (although one will need to be replaced), the river is clean, and the playground is open! It has been so nice to see the children back playing on the equipment now that it’s safe. Unfortunately, the dog park and the nearby picnic shelter were wiped out by Helene. Thankfully, everything is all cleaned up and ready for your next walk with your dog!
There is still some ongoing work at the park, but it is safe and enjoyable. Last week they even got all the bare spots re-seeded with grass! We can’t wait for all the summer happenings there, included the Summer Concert Series from the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce and the 4th of July Party in the Park by Kiwanis of Banner Elk.
Not sure where Tate-Evans Park is located? The primary park entrance is just behind the Town of Banner Elk Town Hall and the Town Tavern of Banner Elk. Tate-Evans Park features two bathrooms, two playgrounds, an amphitheater, and a large picnic shelter.
I hope to see you there soon!
